Bad Muskau, Hermann Pückler-Muskau etc?? Seems like there may be some crossover? Either in how the German Muskau family got their name, or the origins of the word Moscow / Muskau?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10344299670399105216noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-177619263645406088.post-2872520839411668722021-01-31T14:09:24.034-08:002021-01-31T14:09:24.034-08:00Actually.. in adigaza, my motherlanguge, the langu...Actually.. in adigaza, my motherlanguge, the language of the Circassians, the people used to live there, maz means forest and cuw means deep, so the name literally translates to "deep forest"Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17527007384325418406noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-177619263645406088.post-32111551359427545132019-05-19T12:41:19.372-07:002019-05-19T12:41:19.372-07:00Sorry but this is ridiculously wrong. The Rus extended from Scandinavia to the Black Sea and their language bore no resemblance to Russian or Sanskrit.

The name Moskva named the river before the city and came from Finno-Ugric languages of the Volga Valley, in which the name refers either to water or to bears (related to Russian "mishka," a nickname for bears).Geoffrey Seahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14337917370419130609noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-177619263645406088.post-16377252816750948702017-07-21T06:55:08.836-07:002017-07-21T06:55:08.836-07:00An Altai ancien civilisation is called Ur-Asen, w...An Altai ancien civilisation is called Ur-Asen, which is pronounced as Rash shortly. Sages would go North from India to do penance and meditation there. So people in India and Asia (where there was civilization millennia ago) would call it the place of the sages, or Rishis. That's were the name comes from. All words and names ultimately come from Sanskrit. Also Slavic names in Germany dictionary lists Muschwitz which are supposed to derive from Moskwice. This shows that name "Moskwa" has clearly Slavic origin and is in line with typical Slavic names describing physical attributes of the place.
